Founded in 2013, Maratax Limited built on a client base originally established by founder Robert McKee in the early 2000s. Since then, the firm has grown into a trusted provider of tax and accountancy services across Surrey. As independent tax advisers and accountants, we support individuals, families, and businesses with clear, practical advice.

Importantly, our independence allows us to act solely in our clients’ best interests. As a result, every recommendation we make remains objective, transparent, and free from external influence.

Meet the Founder

Robert McKee

Robert McKee brings nearly three decades of experience across both professional practice and industry. Before qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), he also spent three years working at HM Revenue & Customs. During this time, he developed a deep understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance.

Throughout his career, Robert has specialised in UK and offshore taxation. In particular, his expertise covers trusts, high net worth individuals, personal tax, UK company accounting, bookkeeping, and taxation compliance. As a result, clients benefit from well-rounded advice grounded in extensive practical knowledge.

Building Maratax

In the mid-2000s, Robert began advising a small group of friends. He later incorporated the business in 2013, initially intending to keep it as a small client-focused practice. However, as client numbers grew organically, he made the decision to focus entirely on Maratax. Since then, the business has continued to develop through reputation and long-standing client relationships.

Client-Focused Approach

Robert takes pride in being approachable and highly responsive to client needs. He remains closely involved in the day-to-day running of the business, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time. Furthermore, he values clear communication and strives to make each client’s professional and personal life easier through dependable support.

By building strong working relationships, Robert ensures that clients receive advice tailored not only to their current requirements but also to their future goals. Importantly, he enjoys getting to know the person behind the numbers, which helps shape more effective and relevant solutions.

Outside the Office

Away from work, Robert enjoys long-distance running, football, and active involvement in church life. Over the years, he has held several voluntary roles, including church treasurer, parochial church council member, school governor, athletics club treasurer, and grassroots football team manager. These roles reflect his strong commitment to community involvement and responsibility.

We use a standard fee chart as a guide to our initial assessment of the level of fee to charge, we like charge fees on a monthly basis for accountancy, VAT and payroll based work, we always provide an initial quote before conducting our work and will always seek further approval for any further quotes required.

Yes, this is always an option and sometimes helpful, particularly in the early stages of a working relationship. Within an hour’s journey time, we’re happy to meet at your location or at a local site, such as a hotel lounge. Much further away, we often meet somewhere in between.

Most things can be done remotely, which means location certainly isn’t any hindrance to conducting our work efficiently. In the first instance give us a call to see how we can help you.

We like to make sure Maratax is a good fit with your needs. Before we onboard new clients, we offer a free-of-charge initial consultation which usually lasts between 30 minutes and one hour. This can take place over the phone, via video conferencing or face-to-face. We find this time is invaluable in understanding what services are required and how we can best help.
